CARTOON FRIDAY!

15 Mar

FirefoxScreenSnapz099It is sometimes true that we Christians can’t seem to talk about anything but religion, isn’t it?  I’m slowly learning that, although I long for my friends and others to be converted to Christ, I need to focus more on conversations about life, hobbies, families, anything.

Questions:

1.  What topics have you recently talked about with friends who are not yet believers in Jesus?

2.  Could this be one reason why we Christians are sometimes avoided by others?

    Larry,
It is not my experience that Christians are avoided by others. In general, they avoid talking about their faith. It is only the evangelists among them, who try to enforce their belief on others, who are avoided.
There are so many topics, other than religion, that stimulates conversation. But unfortunately, those with evangelistic interests find some hooks in any conversation to steer neutral conversations into the religious field.
When I look up some topics on the Internet’s CNN I got into the habit of reading the attached comments. No matter what the topic might be, it does not take long until someone finds some reason to interject religious comments. Then the fun begins. Both, the anti- and the pro- religion adherents get into the fry. The original subject matter is forgotten and the most silly arguments (from boths sides) can be heard. I often wonder why it is possible for grownup people to act so stupidly.
Yes, Larry, it would be nice if you would follow up on your thought:
“I need to focus more on conversations about life, hobbies, families, anything.”
    John
