I wonder what the connection is between a society that thinks it can do several things at once — and distracted driving?

A great article challenging the myth of multi-tasking is found here and Screen Shot 2014-09-07 at 8.24.57 AMdiscusses the CPA Syndrome (“continuous partial attention”).

I am glad to be able to have a discussion on a subject that is dear to my heart and for a change has nothing to to with religion.
My youngest grandson is a typical 17 year teenager who thinks that multi-tasking is the ultimate in living. I have given up to convince him otherwise. I often thought, that as he will get older, he might realize the folly of this quest for seemingly better time utilization. Unfortunately by then he will be so caught up in his lifestyle that what seems folly to me he will see as normal.
My life experience has thought me that any task, that requires mental alertness, will be better performed in a shorter time when no distractions are present.
