Live, Die, Then Face God’s Judgment! (a movie commentary)

Screen Shot 2014-12-30 at 7.22.14 AMOk.  Ok. I’m a guy.  I don’t think a movie has any value unless there are at least a dozen explosions.

This latest Tom Cruise film is all about fighting nasty looking alien creatures who are a lethal conglomeration of vicious tumbleweed-like masses of tentacles that destroy everything in sight.  Fair enough.  A worthy opponent.

But the premise of the movie is that Tom’s character gets killed almost immediately in the film, and the blood of one of the high-ranking tumbleweed aliens splashes on him, rendering him, well, able to die each day and come back to life.  Really.  Hence, the subtitle: “Live, Die, Repeat.”  I won’t spoil the ending of the movie, but it certainly met my basic requirement of at least a dozen explosions.  Here’s a short clip:

The idea of “Live, Die, Repeat,” however, caught my attention.  The Bible says, “Everyone has to die once, then face the consequences” (Heb. 9:27 The Message).  The old King James Bible puts it:  “it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.”Screen Shot 2014-12-30 at 7.52.23 AM

“Live, Die, Face God’s Judgment,” that’s the biblical picture.  And that’s why I’m so glad Jesus came — to rescue me from God’s righteous wrath.  How about you?
