EXPECTATIONS. We all have them. We all are recipients of the expectations of others. Expectations can be overwhelming, crushing, discouraging. Or they can be inspiring and stretching, stimulating us to strive for success in various goals. Expectations of Christmas and birthdays are positive. Expectations of hugs and kisses from children or grandchildren.
Who is in your life who holds out reasonable expectations for you? I would have laughed in my first year of college if someone had told me I would one day be a graduate school professor! Then I met a young lady from New Jersey who used romantic blackmail to get me onto the Dean’s list!
