Some Predictions from a Non-Prophet (on the Homosexual Agenda): Part 3

24 Jul

In our previous two posts on this issue, we looked at I Corinthians 6 where the Apostle Paul says:

9 Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

“And such were some of you.”
Those who are in favor of the homosexual agenda — and seem to care about what the Bible actually says — sometimes challenge the translation “men who have sex with men” in verse 9. The term that is used in the Greek New Testament there is ἀρσενοκοῖται and is given the following description by Strong’s concordance:

arsenokoites: a male engaging in same-gender sexual activity
Original Word: ἀρσενοκοίτης, ου, ὁ
Part of Speech: Noun, Masculine
Transliteration: arsenokoites
Phonetic Spelling: (ar-sen-ok-oy’-tace)
Short Definition: a male engaging in same-gender sexual activity
Definition: a male engaging in same-gender sexual activity; a sodomite, pederast.

733 arsenokoítēs (from 730 /árrhēn, “a male” and 2845 /koítē, “a mat, bed”)

“I know a little Greek.”
– properly, a man in bed with another man; a homosexual.

Thayer’s Greek Lexicon has the following entry:
ἀρσενοκοίτης, ἀρσενοκοιτου, ὁ (ἄρσην a male; κοίτη a bed), one who lies with a male as with a female, a sodomite: 1 Corinthians 6:9; 1 Timothy 1:10. (Anthol. 9, 686, 5; ecclesiastical writings.)

This term ἀρσενοκοῖται is used twice in the New Testament (here in I Corinthians 6:9 and also in I Timothy 1). In I Timothy 1 we read, “9 We also know that the law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, 10 for the sexually immoral, for those practicing homosexuality (ἀρσενοκοίταις), for slave traders and liars and perjurers—and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine 11 that conforms to the gospel concerning the glory of the blessed God, which he entrusted to me.”
So — what is a true follower of Jesus to do? Certainly we are not to emulate the hate-filled protests of the folks at the Westboro church who picket military funerals with signs that read "God Hates Fags." He loves all sinners. But He warns that those who persist in their sin (whether thievery or pederasty {sexual relations between two males, especially when one of them is a minor}) will not inherit the kingdom of God. All need to be washed, sanctified, and justified through faith in the finished work of Christ.

If I Corinthians 6 and I Timothy 1 are clear — and they are — believers who want the Bible to have full authority in their lives are in for a battle with the homosexual agenda. We will look at several of those potential battlefronts in our next post. (to be continued)

This is such a difficult and important subject. Thank you for taking the time to give us some background on where the scriptures are clear. We need to be prepared with an answer on the coming days. We also need love and gentleness. We are all sinners in need of His grace. Thanks uncle for shedding more light on this.
