Unit-reading a book means reading it straight through — at one sitting. Many of the books of the Bible, perhaps all (with the exception of the book of Psalms), can be profitably unit-read.
Today we have unit-read the Old Testament minor prophet of Nahum. How in the world can anyone doubt that God is a God of judgment, wrath, vengeance, holiness?! He is a jealous God and brings His holy anger against Nineveh without mercy!
We have lost a sense of God’s holiness. I believe Jonathan Edwards rightly describes God’s wrath in his sermon “Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God.”
An excellent series on God’s holiness is R.C. Sproul’s “The Holiness of God.”
