The Joy of Unit-Reading #5 (the book of Jonah)

16 Oct

I watched a baseball game the other night.  More than two hours.  And I can’t sit down and read straight through a book of the Bible?!

Unit-reading is doing just that — sitting down and reading a whole book of the Bible at one time.  Most books of the Bible can be read straight through in less than two hours.

This morning I dove into the four-chapter book of Jonah!  Screen Shot 2015-10-03 at 6.10.15 AMOne perspective that struck me was how gently God deals with His reluctant and unthankful missionary!  He values his own comfort more than he does the lives of the Ninevites.  The God who gives comfort can take it away in a snap.  And He wants us not only to do His will, but to develop hearts that delight to do His will!

What book of the Bible have you unit-read?
