Would you agree that religion ought to be spirituality organized? Blessings. Larry

The inherent problem with religion is the dogma. Rules to keep people in line because of a lack of trust in their own spiritual path.

A soul unbound needn’t be set free. I find spirituality in all things through meditation

If this is foolishness, then I will be proud to be called a fool.

      John:
I sure appreciate your comment — and your continuing to read my blog. I’m glad you’re still among the living!

Might I analyze Pitt’s statement a bit, seeing as how you count yourself a fool with Pitt?

      1. First, I don’t find my religion (Christianity) comfortable at times. I’m not sure what religion Pitt is talking about, but biblical Christianity brings both comfort and pain! (I could go into details if you wish).
      2. I’ve discovered my “self” — and I often don’t like what I see. As Blaise Pascal said, we are both the glory of God (made in His image) and the refuse of the universe) because of our rebellion and egoism). The Apostle referred to himself with the words “O wretched man that I am!” (I know Someone who can deal with your wretchedness, John, if you’re interested).
      3. I appreciate Pitt taking responsibility for his life (which Christianity clearly teaches), but “capable to handle any situation”?!

Pitt’s found god — but it’s a pitifully small one (self). I pray, John, that you won’t stay in his pit (bad pun, I admit!).

Thanks again for your comment. Blessings. Larry

    Larry,
There is nothing foolish in Pitt’s statement “There is peace in understanding that I have only one life here and now, and I am responsible”.There is also nothing foolish in trying to discover one’s self. You are wrong in suggesting that this become a religion for Pitt.To abandon the religion of one’s youth does not mean to substitute it with another religion.
For me, it was part of growing up. I did not adapt another religion, but only a more reasonable belief system that is not based on fear and banishment. I won’t talk about spirituality and freedom of soul, because I think there are no two people on this planet who would have identical ideas of the meaning of these abstract concepts.
    John
