The Theology of Calvin . . . and Hobbes (Choices)

30 Sep

The catastrophe of too many choices! One needs to travel only a little to other countries to see that we in America are choice-addicted! Don’t get me wrong — I like extra-crunchy peanut butter. But it does give one pause, doesn’t it?

I was a missionary overseas for almost a decade, and came home due to a death in the family. My mom, tending to things at home, sent me to the supermarket to do the weekly grocery shopping. She wanted diet tonic water (whatever that was), and after looking at the choices in the beverage aisle, I almost had a mega-meltdown. Where I’d been, we had 2 kinds of toothpaste, 3 kinds of TP, etc. I often wonder if we need all the choices we have.
