HeavenSomeone has stolen heaven – or at least its appeal – from Christians. Life on earth in the twenty-first century, it seems, is too good here and people don’t think that much about their future destination unless forced to by circumstances. But the subject of heaven and how to make preparations to go there must be discussed! There is a right side and a wrong side to the gospel. Those on the wrong side need to be warned, and those on the right side need to be motivated now by what awaits them. |

The Other Side of the Good NewsIt is a time of Christian confusion and, therefore, uncertain witness. Is there a biblical doctrine of hell or are Christians free to hold a variety of viewpoints on this issue? If so, does it matter which one? Larry Dixon examines current theories and encourages you to take the Bible’s teaching on hell as seriously as Jesus did. If he came to us with the Good News then we don’t want people to spend eternity on the other side of the Good News. Three alternative views to the traditional doctrine of hell are examined; universalism, annihilationism and post-mortem conversion. In a thought-provoking final chapter Dixon summarizes how different views affect our interaction with non-Christians and the extent of our freedom to hold different views. |

DocTalkPeople ask the strangest things in Christian books a pocket sized large print Bible or maybe a profound leader’s guide for instant Bible studies! A few moments thought would make us realise how silly we can be … does a really interesting book on Christian doctrine come into the same category? |

DocWalkSurveys of Churchgoers reveal a huge problem there is too little difference between them and people who dont go to church If our beliefs are to be taken seriously then they must be seen to have a difference in our behaviour, Dixon’s remarkable insights highlights how doctrine makes a difference in our walk with the Lord and the way we live. |

Was listening to you talk with Chris Fabry yesterday.
One thing you didn’t address about temptation was the concept of the verse about throwing off the sin that so easily entangles us: how to do that. Your discussion was edifying still. Thank you for your ministry of teaching theology. God bless you.

Thank you, Kenneth, for your comment, especially about the “sin that so easily entangles us.” I believe this refers to HABITS that we need to replace with GODLY HABITS. I talk about this in a chapter in my book “When Temptation Strikes.” If you get a chance to check it out, please let me know.
Blessings.

Jim:
So good to hear from you! We miss our friends out at Marble Hill! Thanks for tracking me down. Much has happened in our lives in the last few years: the birth of our 1st grandchild, our daughter’s marriage, and (as you can see from my blogs), heart surgery for me. The Lord’s goodness is amazing and I am on the mend. Linda is doing well. Her birthday is this Wednesday and we have recently adopted a small puppy. Please bring us up-to-date about the believers in Marble Hill. Thanks again for tracking us down. Blessings. Larry & Linda
