Please Consider an “Unlike Jesus” Seminar – Session #3 Video! Conclusion!

Friends: As you know, my most recent book is Unlike Jesus! Let’s Stop Unfriending the World.  I’m convinced many of us believers meet only with other Christians, watch only Christian movies, and eat only Christian casseroles. We make lousy friends because we’re not sure we’re supposed to be a friend of sinners!

In the next few posts, I’m going to hammer pretty hard on this idea of being a friend of sinners — like Jesus was! I have one goal in mind — to get you (and me) much more serious about the unbelievers we know and to challenge us to develop deep, committed friendships with them.

Just so you know, I’ve developed three videos which cover the basics of my book and can be used in a Zoom kind of church study. I would gladly lead the discussion (live) after your church group watches each video. All we have to do is schedule the meetings.

We’ve looked at the first two videos and a bunch of short pitches for the book. Let’s finally look at the third video in this series — our conclusion!

AN INVITATION TO YOU — TO INVITE ME!

Friends:

I’m convinced that there is a major element missing in many Christian’s lives. That missing element is that we are often not friends of sinners as Jesus was. We spend our time watching Christian movies, listening only to Christian music, and eating only Christian casseroles! We have to develop meaningful relationships with those who are still outside of Christ!

That’s why I wrote Unlike Jesus: Let’s Stop Unfriending the World. HE was a friend of sinners (Matthew 11) and we should be as well.

I am passionate about this subject and have a half-day seminar ready to present to your church! Just invite me!

If you are a leader in your church and wish to consider my offer, I will gladly send you a complimentary copy of my book Unlike Jesus for you to read and present to your church’s leadership team. There is no huge fee to have me come. Just cover my expenses in travel!

A half-day Saturday seminar — on friendship evangelism! What could be better than that! (And I’d be pleased to speak at your Sunday service if you wish).

My contact information is on the right of the page. Let’s make 2020 different this year by becoming friends of sinners!

Invite Me to Your Church to Do an “UNLIKE JESUS” Seminar!

My New Book Is Out! UNLIKE JESUS!

Friends: I am so thankful to the Lord for letting me write this new book, Unlike Jesus: Let’s Stop Unfriending the World. The publisher is Energion and their website is here.

The primary point of Unlike Jesus is that we are not like the Lord in being a friend of sinners. We’re sometimes friends with other Christians. And we try to be friends with ourselves [I’m reminded of Erma Bombeck who said that she “read the book How to Be Your Own Best Friend, went out and gained twenty pounds, and haven’t trusted myself since!”]. But most of us deserve a C- for not being a friend of sinners.

Unlike Jesus makes the case that Jesus models for us a life of connection — relationships — with those who don’t know the Lord. This book dismantles the five excuses we often give for not being a friend of sinners and provides practical advice about how we can change our mindset and be more like the Lord.

It would be my privilege to send you a copy (just send a check for $10 to me) (includes shipping). You can also order this by sending the $10 to our PayPal account (theoprof@bellsouth.net). It is also available on Amazon here.

We Christians desperately need to break away from listening to only Christian music, reading only Christian books, and eating only Christian casseroles. Unlike Jesus will help you break that unfriendly cycle.

This year I will be conducting weekend and half-day Saturday seminars on this topic. If you or your church wants to consider inviting me, please use my contact information found on the right sidebar. And pray that the Lord will use this book to help us Christians get out more — and be more like the Lord Jesus!

Habits of Holiness: #3- A Heart for Lost People!

“Only six months?! Doc, you’ve got to be kidding me!” “No, Larry. It’s true. You only have six months (that’s 180 days or 4,320 hours or 259,200 minutes or 15,552,000 seconds) left on this earth.” Then I woke up.

But what if that were true? What if I had only 15,552,000 seconds remaining in the hour glass of my life? What would I do for the next six months? How would my life change? What priorities would take center stage in my life? How would such news impact my relationship with others — my unsaved friends, my fellow Christians, my wife, my children and grandchildren?

Now, I’ve not been told that I only have six months to live, but what if that were true?

We’ve looked at two holy habits that ought to be in our lives — even if we’ve got twenty more years to live: (1) we must spend time in God’s Word, and (2) we’ve got to stop playing at praying!

The Lord has also been burdening my heart the last few years with the truth that many of us are NOT friends of sinners like the Lord Jesus was (Mt. 11:19).

I feel so strong about our proclivity to listen only to Christian music, have only Christian wallpaper, hang around only Christian people, and eat only Christian casseroles that I’ve recently written a book entitled Unlike Jesus: One Area Where Jesus-Followers Excel. Granted, it’s a bit of a negative title, but I believe we need to be awakened from an ungodly enchantment that says the fewer non-Christian friends we have the holier we are. That’s a belief that smells like smoke and comes from the PIT!

An assignment for you: Spend some time with one of your unsaved friends this week. Leave a comment below how your time together went.
