The Theology of Calvin . . . and Hobbes (Life as a Play?)

Sometimes life seems a tragedy — and sometimes a farce, doesn’t it? But our lives matter because we’ve been created by the infinite, personal God of the Bible. Your life matters. My life matters. And we should do all that we can, each day, to use our lives . . . to matter!

The Theology of Calvin . . . and Hobbes (Inconvenient Life)

Life can be, sometimes, inconvenient. But we were never meant to live life by simply clicking and kicking back. Good, honest work is not the result of the fall in the Garden of Eden. Weary work, fighting thorns and thistles, is! And isn’t it true that some of our best lessons in life are learned from what we might call the nuisances, the wasted times, the annoying human interaction?  Your thoughts?

The Theology of Calvin . . . and Hobbes (What’s Important in Life?)

How do we determine what’s important in life? We can vote on it, follow our whims, decide democratically. Or . . . we can realize that the very God of the universe has given us a guidebook and illustrated it profusely with real-life examples of those who valued what He values . . . or didn’t! How foolish of us not to avail ourselves of that guidebook — the B-I-B-L-E!

The Theology of Calvin . . . and Hobbes (The Point of Human Existence?)

What a great question! Calvin makes an excellent point, doesn’t he? What is our reason for existing? This is precisely where biblical Christianity has the best answer of all the world’s religions. We were made for relationship with our Creator. And that relationship is worth expending all our energy on developing that!
