The Theology of Calvin . . . and Hobbes (Reshaping the Universe)

We are made in the image and likeness of God. But we are not the Creator. We can, indeed, be creative, but He is the One to be worshiped and served. Science, the demigod of our present culture, should point us to God, not away from Him. Man is not his own Creator — but can choose to worship creation instead of the Triune God.

Time for a Great Quote (John Piper on Academic Insurrection)

“Therefore, the task of all Christian scholarship- not just biblical studies- Screen Shot 2014-10-09 at 8.14.02 PMis to study reality as a manifestation of God’s glory, to speak and write about it with accuracy, and to savor the beauty of God in it, and to make it serve the good Screen Shot 2014-10-09 at 8.18.45 PMof man. It is an abdication of scholarship when Christians do academic work with little reference to God. If all the universe and everything in it exist by the design of an infinite, personal God, to make his manifold glory known and loved, then to treat any subject without reference to God’s glory is not scholarship but insurrection.”-John Piper (from God’s Passion for His Glory:  Living the Vision of Jonathan Edwards, p. 43).
